Principaux ports maritimes en Asie du Sud-Est

It’s one of our main forwarding routes to ship to Southeast Asia. Below is the major sea ports in Southeast Asia

Almost all countries there have long coastlines. Here we only list those major sea ports in Southeast Asia, including all major Base Ports and Non-Base Ports.

BASE PORT

A base port is a port that liner companies regularly call at. These are typically larger, centrally located ports with good facilities and stable cargo volumes. Once designated as a base port, there are no restrictions on cargo volume. Shipments to base ports are usually direct, without the need for transshipment. However, if cargo volume is too low, the shipping company may decide to transship, arranging and bearing the cost themselves. Freight charges are based on base port rates, with no additional transshipment or direct shipping surcharges, and direct bills of lading should be issued.

NON-BASE PORT

Ports other than base ports are referred to as non-base ports. In addition to the base port charges, non-base ports usually incur additional transshipment surcharges. Once cargo volume reaches a certain level, a direct shipping surcharge is applied instead. For example, Honiara on the New Guinea route is a base port in the Solomon Islands, while Kieta is a non-base port. Freight to Kieta includes a transshipment surcharge of USD 43.00/FT on top of the Honiara base rate.
