In January 2024, an Indonesian client entrusted us with exporting 30 containers of polyester resin pellets to Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia. Due to the special nature of polyester resin pellets and the fact that they are overweight containers, coupled with the peak season before the Chinese New Year, many shipping companies were reluctant to release space. The client’s original freight forwarder was unable to secure space, and the client wanted to receive the goods before the Chinese New Year. Suggestions To The Client of Shipping PET Resin From China To Indonesia

Upon receiving the commission, we immediately contacted the domestic factory to understand the readiness and specific situation of the goods. After understanding the factory’s situation and considering the client’s desire to receive the goods before the Chinese New Year, we selected suitable shipping schedules and simultaneously booked space with MSK, OOCL, and Wan Hai. (Since the client’s product is similar to hazardous goods and involves heavy containers, booking with multiple shipping companies increased the chances of securing space.) Ultimately, we obtained space released by OOCL, but the schedule was tight.

Shipping Process

After securing the space, we promptly informed the client about the situation. Due to the tight schedule, we coordinated with the factory on loading times while requesting an extended cutoff from the shipping company. Initially, the factory was unwilling to rush this shipment due to the pre-holiday trucking shortage and the need for early coordination for loading. After multiple discussions, they agreed to expedite the shipment but couldn’t arrange enough trucks. We confirmed the number of trucks the factory could coordinate and used our connections to arrange additional trucks. Once the trucking issue was resolved, we communicated with both the factory and overseas contacts about the supplementary documentation, ensuring that the SI/VGM could be uploaded to OOCL immediately after loading. We also coordinated with the factory on the manifest details, allowing the client to prepare customs clearance documents in advance. Once we uploaded the manifest and the containers entered the terminal, customs clearance could be completed promptly.

Despite the tight timeline, we worked diligently to coordinate all parties and requested the shipping company to ensure the containers were loaded onto the ship. Ultimately, we helped the client catch this shipment, reaching the destination port before the Chinese New Year. The client was very satisfied with our ability to meet their needs under pressure. After the New Year, they entrusted us with handling their exports from China’s Zhapu/Lianyungang to Indonesia and the Middle East, leading to further cooperation and connections.
